The Council and Mayor of the Village of Poland are pleased to announce the awarding of the Mauthe Bridge rehabilitation project to Murphy Contracting of Youngstown, Ohio. Following the acceptance of Murphy’s bid in November 2019, the Bridge Oversight Committee, chaired by Councilman Sam Moffie, met with stakeholders at the preconstruction meeting on Monday, January 20 2020.
Construction is scheduled to commence on March 16, 2020 and will continue for a period of not more than sixty days. Those using the Poland Municipal Forest during that timespan should keep clear of the construction area. Given the need of heavy equipment for portions of the rehabilitation, those using the Forest should also expect temporary trail closures in the immediate area of the Bridge. Information related to the construction and closure will be posted on the Village website and that of the Forest Board as well as in writing at the kiosks near the Forest entrances and at Village Hall.
The Poland Forest Foundation is still actively seeking donations for this project and donations are tax deductible.
